FAQ
Common questions
The questions that come up on almost every first phone call, answered here so you do not have to ask.
How soon can you come?
Often within a few days, and urgent jobs are prioritised. We work seven days a week from 9am to 10pm, which means evenings and weekends are normal appointments here, not a surcharge.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes — $50. It exists so that a genuinely small job is still worth booking rather than being turned away.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. Photo estimates and on-site estimates are both free, with no obligation.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry a contractor's package policy for residential work, and we are incorporated in British Columbia as Super Handymen Maintenance and Repair Ltd. We are happy to show the paperwork.
Do you take on commercial or strata common-area work?
No. Our insurance covers residential work, so we stay inside that. If you have a commercial property, we will point you elsewhere rather than work outside our coverage.
What do you not do?
Gas work, new electrical circuits or panel work, plumbing that needs a permit or lives inside a wall, and full roof replacements. Those need licensed trades and we will tell you straight away rather than halfway through.
How do I pay?
E-transfer or cash. You get an invoice from the company either way.
Do you speak Chinese?
Yes. Mandarin and Cantonese, on the phone, on WeChat and on site.
